Essential Elements

A solo show presented by the Camera Obscura Gallery, Denver, Colorado, July 24-September 5, 2009.
In this series of photographs, which I call "Essential Elements," I am exploring the essential image elements of space and tone while preserving a sense of place.  Basically, I reduce the image to discrete tone determined segments by applying various digital techniques that may include posterization, tonal changes, edge modifications, local contrast changes, lighting effects, the use of collage, texture, distortion, and gradients.  The original photographs were taken on the South East coast of Alaska, Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, Utah, and Angkor Wat, Cammbodia.
